Cleaning Commercial Ice Machine

 

Winter is a great time to complete the semi-annual deep cleaning recommended for commercial ice machines. Here’s an easy guide on what to do!

Step 1:

Access the evaporator compartment and remove all of the ice. No ice can be in the compartment while you’re cleaning and sanitizing your ice machine.

Step 2:

Remove all of the ice from the bin and/or dispenser.

Step 3:

Push the “clean” or “wash” button. The label on the button could differ, depending on what machine you have. After pushing the button, allow the water trough to fill completely and indicate it’s to add chemicals.

Step 4:

Wait for the full cleaning cycle to complete. Then, disconnect the ice machine from power.

Step 5:

Check your machine’s manual for instructions on how to properly remove parts to clean.

Step 6:

Take the parts you’ve removed from the machine and soak, then clean them in a mixture of cleaning solution and lukewarm water. You can used a soft bristled brush or sponge to clean more difficult spots as needed.

Step 7:

Clean all other surfaces of your ice machine while the ice is removed. You can use the same soap and water solution you used to clean the components of your machine.

Step 8:

Rinse all areas thoroughly with water to remove any chemicals.
